Embroidered Tribal Balls in Handcrafted Gift Case – Unique Hmong Folk Art Collectible Set
Rare Find! Collector’s Box of Vintage Embroidered Balls, Handmade by Hmong Tribes. Scarce and uncommon, these 9 small colorful balls are part of traditional Hmong tribal culture in Southeast Asia. I collected them 20 years ago, and most are antiques (these are all 30-50 years old). Each curated set includes a special “flower” edged piece, as well as stars, crosses, hearts, and other beautiful patterns – they have a classic wabi-sabi patina, and despite their age, these “Scatterballs” (as I call them) are in mint condition. If you need a unique and classy gift with style, this is it.
The box itself is a work of art, worthy of display or for holding mementos. It’s a shiny black box, with magnetic closure. Each Scatterball nests in its own compartment with paper candy cup, like a fancy bonbon. I embellish the top and inside of the box with handmade designs that reflect the Hmong culture, including an embroidered circle and an “elephant’s foot” pattern. Remove the liner compartment, and the box itself can be used as an attractive trinket box, jewelry box, and container for keys, cuff links, game pieces, cards, photos, smart phones, air pods, and other small objects. It’s like getting two gifts in one.
For the person who has everything — the home decorator, the boho lover, artisanal folk art fan, ethnic textile fabric collector, and for crafters and artists, this is a gift that says “I love how unique you are.”
Ball sizes range from 3/4 to 1-1/4 inch. Box measures about 5-3/4 inch square by 1-1/2 inches. Limited quantity available.

Scatterballs: These handmade embroidery circles are traditional patterns by Hmong tribes in Thailand. I sell modern Scatterballs as cat toys: they bounce, wobble and move like little prey.
