These large, vintage Scatterballs, nestled in purple flowers, arrive in a delicate mooncake box. This is a Limited Edition set of four, with only 10 numbered sets available. Limited to one Mooncake set per customer.
Beneath the Scatterballs, inside the flowers, are Hmong embroidered centers, in four rich monochrome colors. Like festive mooncakes, this collection is gift-ready in a delicate paper box, with a cat charm on satin ribbon. I handmade a sliding belt clasp as an extra touch, for neatly storing the collection, and inserted an origami paper liner to set off the collection. Slide off the cover, and display the Scatterballs like sweet pieces of art. This set makes a special house gift, especially for those hard-to-shop-for-friends.
Rare: This collection contains the three Scatterball patterns shown in my hand in the photo, and the fourth will vary: it is picked from a small stock of complementary vintage pieces.
NOTE: Do not expect perfection. Some vintage pieces show signs of delicate wabi-sabi aging, The flowers are handmade in Brazil, and are no longer available; some are slightly crumpled, with a bit of distressed wear and tear. None of this detracts, in my mind, from the beauty of this package or gift. In fact, these imperfections make each set more unique and special.
About Scatterballs: Handmade by Hmong tribes in Thailand. They look like fancy bonbons. Vintage Scatterballs may show signs of “wabi-sabi” aging, and can be up to 30 years old; the best are nearly impossible to find. In fact, since the pandemic, it’s difficult to find any Scatterballs; my limited edition Bonbon and Mooncake sets are ones I’ve been collecting for years. Some newer Scatterballs are custom made just for me. Now, I am sharing these treasures with you.
Cats love to chase them – though this collection may be too beautiful to lose under the couch. The sizes in this collection range from about 3/4 to 1-1/4 inch. See photo with US quarters.
